Regular Season Round 9: BA CoE - Geelong S. 72-73

The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Geelong Supercats' (3-3) road victory over 8th ranked BA CoE (4-3) 73-72 on Thursday. Geelong Supercats dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to BA CoE's 16. Geelong Supercats forced 22 BA CoE turnovers. American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: SHSU) stepped up and scored 21 points and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Anthony Williams (178-95, college: Clark Atlanta) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The best for the losing side was Alex Ducas with 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Hunter Goodrick (201-0) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BA CoE's coach Adam Caporn tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Geelong Supercats went down to tenth position (League) due to points difference. Loser BA CoE dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Geelong Supercats will face higher ranked Waverley Falcons (#8) in Mount Waverley in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
