Fourth-ranked Groningen (22-12) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Leiden (31-3) on Thursday. The visitors from Leiden managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected easier game. Leiden dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Groningen's 22. Leiden forced 22 Groningen turnovers. Strangely Groningen outrebounded Leiden 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for international Worthy de-Jong (194-88) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
