Round in CIBACOPA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Culiacan where host Caballeros de Culiacan (9-4) beat league's leader Tijuana Zonkeys (9-5) 104-92 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tijuana Zonkeys. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Caballeros de Culiacan made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Tijuana Zonkeys helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) fired 38 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American-Antiguan Joel McIntosh (201-90, college: La Roche) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Caballeros de Culiacan's coach Martin Knezevic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Caballeros de Culiacan will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Rayos de Hermosillo at home.
