There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Betanzos (11-15) outscored at home 9th ranked PBB (12-14) 108-53 on Saturday. Betanzos shot 61.8 percent from the field. Betanzos outrebounded PBB 49-30 including a 34-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Senegalese power forward Abdou Thiam (204-98) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Thomas Cooper (196-92, college: Calgary) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Victor Alonso (196-94) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Jorge Cabaleiro scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Betanzos moved-up to tenth place in Group A-B, which they share with Un.Oviedo. Newly promoted PBB keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost.
