Very expected game in Gawler where 10th ranked Sturt Sabres (1-7) were crushed by fifth ranked Central District Lions (5-3) 107-88 on Saturday. Central District Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Sturt Sabres' 46. Central District Lions shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 81.3 percentage. American guard Jordan Riewer (188-91, college: MSU Moorhead) stepped up and scored 26 points and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all seven shots !!!) for the winners and Lual Diing chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Hayden Meakes (197-1) with 24 points (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) and forward Thomas Goodall (198, college: NIACC) scored 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Central District Lions and four Sturt Sabres players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Central District Lions maintains fifth place in League with 5-3 record. Loser Sturt Sabres dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Central District Lions will face North Adelaide Rockets (#7) in Greenacres in the next round. Sturt Sabres will play at home against the league's leader Norwood Flames (#1) and hope to win that game.
