There was no surprise in Woodville where 8th ranked West Adelaide Bearcats (4-5) were defeated by sixth ranked North Adelaide Rockets (4-5) 81-77 on Saturday. North Adelaide Rockets made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 West Adelaide Bearcats turnovers. American point guard Bijan Johnson (185-97, college: N.Mex.Military) stepped up and scored 29 points and 6 steals for the winners and the former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-96, college: Nebraska) chipped in 19 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Bryan Jefferson (201-94, college: Mary) with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Patrick Thomas (190, college: Mary) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Four North Adelaide Rockets and five West Adelaide Bearcats players scored in double figures. Despite that victory North Adelaide Rockets went down to seventh position (League) due to points difference. North Adelaide Rockets will face higher ranked Woodville Warriors (#6) in Flinders Park in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. West Adelaide Bearcats will play on the road against Woodville Warriors in Flinders Park and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
