Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked APR (6-7) was defeated at home by third ranked Espoir (10-4) 69-64 on Tuesday. Espoir forced 21 APR turnovers. Gallois Kazeneza (-0) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Philippe Kubanatubane (-93) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side international Pascal Niyonkuru (193-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and international Bienvenue Niyonsaba (201-96) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. APR's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Espoir maintains third place with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader REG. Loser APR dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Espoir will face Rusizi (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. APR will play against IPRC-South and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
