Regular Season Round 10: East Perth E. - Perth R. 79-114
Date: May 3, 2019
Everything could happen in Morley at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Redbacks and 10th ranked Eagles had identical 4-6 record. But Eagles were not able to use a home court advantage and were outleveled by the opponent from Northbridge 114-79 on Friday night. Redbacks forced 19 Eagles turnovers and outrebounded them 50-33 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 61.3 percentage. Redbacks looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-French guard Jourdan DeMuynck (198-90, college: PVAMU) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Guard Marshall Nelson (188-94, college: Wayland Baptist) chipped in 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Redbacks players scored in double figures. American guard Cameron Williams (185-95, college: MSU Denver) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Drew Williamson (196-83, college: MSU Denver) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Redbacks (5-6) moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Eagles dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Redbacks will face higher ranked Giants (#7) in Kalgoorlie in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Eagles will play at home against the league's second-placed Lightning (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
