There was a minor upset in Werribee where 5th ranked Gulls (3-5) were edged by eighth ranked Devils (2-8) 93-91 on Saturday. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Konor Kulas (201-94, college: S.Dakota Mines) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. David Shepard (201-94, college: Lindenwood-Bellev.) chipped in 31 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Shepard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Corey Standerfer (201-88, college: York, NE) produced a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 6 assists and Colin Voss (201-91, college: N.Texas) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four Gulls players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Devils maintains eighth position in League with 2-8 record. Loser Gulls dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Devils will face Vikings (#9) in Melbourne in the next round.
