Regular Season Round 10: Los Mochis - Jalisco 114-111
Date: May 4, 2019
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Gigantes (10-9) were edged on the road by eighth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (7-12) 114-111 on Saturday. Gigantes were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Anthony Glover-Jr (185-96, college: Indiana, PA) fired 28 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. The other American import power forward John Mitchell (208-91, college: Virginia Union) chipped in a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Worth to mention Glover Jr. played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. American guard Jordan Williams (198-92, college: N.Texas) produced 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Pioneros Los Mochis have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 7-12 record. Newly promoted Gigantes dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis will face bottom-ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (#9) on the road in the next round. Gigantes will play against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
