There was a surprise result in Guadalajara where seventh ranked Gigantes (10-9) outleveled higher ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (11-9) 69-47 on Wednesday. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Tijuana Zonkeys' 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Tijuana Zonkeys' players. American guard Jordan Williams (198-92, college: N.Texas) fired 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward Brandon Swannegan (206-93, college: Tulsa) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Center Luis Rodriguez-Sainz (-90) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Julio-Cesar Martin (196-87) added 12 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gigantes moved-up to fifth place. Defending champion Tijuana Zonkeys keep the third position with nine games lost. Gigantes will face higher ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and hope to win that game.
