Regular Season Round 33: Aalstar - Kangoeroes 70-92
Date: May 9, 2019
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when eighth ranked Kangoeroes (12-21) smashed on the road 7th ranked Okapi Aalstar (11-21) 92-70 on Thursday. Kangoeroes looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Romanian center Alexandru Olah (213-93, college: Northwestern) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Swedish point guard Charles Barton (193-92, college: Oregon St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 assists. Four Kangoeroes players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Kendall Smith (190-95, college: Oklahoma St.) who recorded 15 points and 4 assists and Senne Geukens (192-83) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kangoeroes moved-up to seventh place. Okapi Aalstar lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 21 games lost. Kangoeroes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Okapi Aalstar will play again against Kangoeroes (#7) in Mechelen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
