Another interesting game for Flames (8-4) which played in Floreat against Hawks (7-5). Sixth ranked Flames crushed hosts 86-62. Flames brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was a great evening for forward Greg Hire (201-87, college: Augusta) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Luke Travers (197-1) helped adding 20 points. The former international swingman Clint Steindl (200-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) responded with 16 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) scored 7 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames moved-up to third place in League. Hawks at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Flames will play against Slammers (#14) in Bunbury in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Hawks will play on the road against Buccaneers (#5) in Wonthella and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
