Very predictable result when fourth ranked Geelong Supercats (5-4) edged at home 12th ranked Bandits (4-3) 104-103 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Geelong Supercats dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Bandits' 46. Geelong Supercats forced 19 Bandits turnovers and had a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Bandits' players. American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: SHSU) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Naturalized British forward Lewis Thomas (203-92, college: W.Oregon) contributed with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Geelong Supercats' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Ken-Jah Bosley (185, college: Ky Wesleyan) answered with 30 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Deba George (183-85) added 24 points and 4 assists in the effort for Bandits. Five Geelong Supercats and four Bandits players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Geelong Supercats went down to seventh position (League) due to points difference. Loser Bandits dropped to the ninth place with three games lost. Geelong Supercats will face Diamond Valley Eagles (#15) in Greensborough in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bandits will play on the road against Huskies (#14) in Hobart and hope to win that game.
