Regular Season Round 13: Mexcaltecas - Aztks 61-66

The game between Top Four teams took place in Tepic. 3rd placed host Mexcaltecas (8-4) lost to first ranked Aztks (12-1) 66-61. It was a great shooting night for Aztks especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Cuban center Klavdia Calvo (186-83) stepped up and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-84) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Aztks players scored in double figures. Aztks' coach A. Acosta used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international center Jazmin Valenzuela (187-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Carolee Dillard (188-94, college: UALR) scored 13 points. Aztks have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-1 record, which they share with Mieleras. Mexcaltecas at the other side keep the third position with four games lost. Aztks is looking forward to face Escaramuzas (#7) in Guadalajara in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mexcaltecas will play at home against the league's second-placed Mieleras (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
