We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Mechelen where 7th ranked Kangoeroes (12-22) were defeated by eighth ranked Okapi Aalstar (12-21) 91-75 on Saturday. Okapi Aalstar outrebounded Kangoeroes 42-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. American guard Jonathan Williams (190-95, college: Toledo) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Kendall Smith (190-95, college: Oklahoma St.) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. Okapi Aalstar's coach Jean-Marc Jaumin allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward Kwan Cheatham-Jr (208-95, college: Akron) responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Swedish point guard Charles Barton (193-92, college: Oregon St.) scored 16 points. Okapi Aalstar moved-up to seventh place. Loser Kangoeroes dropped to the eighth position with 22 games lost. Okapi Aalstar will meet at home league's second-placed Antwerp Giants in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kangoeroes will play against the league's second-placed Antwerp Giants (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
