There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (14-17) defeated on the road 5th ranked Beer Sheva (14-17) 103-91 on Sunday. Ironi Nes-Ziona made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Beer Sheva was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American swingman Chris Dowe (191-91, college: Bellarmine) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized Welsh Tal-Michael Dunne (198-87) helped adding 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side American forward Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import point guard Kerron Johnson (183-90, college: Belmont) scored 18 points and 6 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Beer Sheva's coach Rami Hadar rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Beer Sheva and Rishon. Beer Sheva lost their fifth game in a row. Ironi Nes-Ziona will face Ironi Nahariya (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Beer Sheva will play against Galil Gilboa (#10) and hope to win that game.
