Regular Season Round 11: Tijuana - Venados 69-76

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (12-11) against sixth ranked Venados (11-12) on Tuesday night. Host Tijuana Zonkeys were defeated by Venados in a tough game in Tijuana 69-76. It was a great evening for Jamaican-American Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Carl Hall (202-89, college: Wichita St.) helped adding 17 points. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Venados players scored in double figures. American Greg Smith (198-92, college: Colorado St.) responded with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Venados went down to seventh position due to points difference. Defending champion Tijuana Zonkeys dropped to the fourth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with La Paz. Venados will play against higher ranked Gigantes (#6) in Guadalajara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tijuana Zonkeys will play on the road against Pioneros Los Mochis and hope to get back on the winning track.
