Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys and 6th ranked Venados had identical 11-11 record. This time Tijuana Zonkeys used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Mazatlan 82-74 on Wednesday night. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Venados' players. American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) contributed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach James Penny used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jamaican-American Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Carl Hall (202-89, college: Wichita St.) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Venados. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Tijuana Zonkeys went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with La Paz. Loser Venados dropped to the seventh place with 12 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will face Pioneros Los Mochis (#8) on the road in the next round. Venados will play against Gigantes in Guadalajara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
