Regular Season Round 12: Kalamunda E.S. - Perth R. 91-92
Date: May 18, 2019
Everything could happen in Kalamunda at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Redbacks and 8th ranked Suns had identical 6-7 record. But Suns were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from Northbridge 92-91 on Saturday night. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Marshall Nelson (188-94, college: Wayland Baptist) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 8 rebounds and forward Majier Garang (200-95) who added 22 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Javion Blake (190, college: Washburn) with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and power forward Louis Timms (206-91, college: Wayland Baptist) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Five Redbacks and four Suns players scored in double figures. Suns' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Redbacks (7-7) moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Suns dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Redbacks will face league's leader Wanneroo in Joondalup in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Suns will play on the road against Slammers (#14) in Bunbury and hope to win that game.
