There was no surprise when 9th ranked Bankstown Bruins (4-8) were defeated on the road by second ranked Sutherland Sharks (9-3) 80-69 on Saturday. Sutherland Sharks outrebounded Bankstown Bruins 47-30 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Taj Spencer (201, college: CBU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Kyle Steward (201-95, college: UMKC) who added 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Sutherland Sharks players scored in double figures. Sutherland Sharks' coach Demarcus Berry used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Alexander Foster with 22 points and Keanu Reed scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Sutherland Sharks maintains second position in League with 9-3 record behind leader Joondalup W. Loser Bankstown Bruins keep the ninth place with eight games lost. Sutherland Sharks will face Newcastle Hunters (#12) in Broadmeadow in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bankstown Bruins will play at home against the league's leader Crusaders and hope to win that game.
