Regular Season Round 12: Nunawading S. - BA CoE 88-78

Very expected game in East Burwood where 9th ranked BA CoE (5-6) was defeated by third ranked Spectres (7-3) 88-78 on Sunday. Spectres dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to BA CoE's 36 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded BA CoE 49-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. BA CoE was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Simon Conn (206-83, college: Gardner-Webb) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and American center Dain Swetalla (206-86, college: Augustana, IL) who added 11 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Josh Giddey with 11 points and 7 rebounds and forward Joshua Kunen (201-0) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Spectres and five BA CoE players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spectres moved-up to second place in League. Loser BA CoE dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Spectres will face Bendigo Braves (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. BA CoE will play against NW Tasmania Thunder (#9) in Ulverstone and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
