Regular Season Round 7: KCCA Leopards - YMCA Hamstars 83-48

No shocking result in a game in Kampala where third ranked KCCA Leopards (6-1) smashed 9th ranked YMCA Hamstars (2-7) 83-48 on Saturday. KCCA Leopards dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to YMCA Hamstars' 26. They outrebounded YMCA Hamstars 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. KCCA Leopards looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by YMCA Hamstars' players. It was a great evening for Kenyan guard Cynthia Irankunda (168-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Maureen Amoding (170-90) helped adding 17 points and 6 assists. Five KCCA Leopards players scored in double figures. At the losing side Bridget Aber (-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks and Naomi Oyaro scored 14 points and 5 assists. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for KCCA Leopards. They moved-up to second place, which they share with UCU Ladies. YMCA Hamstars lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the ninth position with seven games lost. KCCA Leopards' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kampala to the arena A1 Challenge.
