Regular Season Round 14: Tijuana - Culiacan 89-83

Date: May 28, 2019
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (13-15) lost on the road to fourth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (15-14) 89-83. Tijuana Zonkeys brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) who scored 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Center AJ West (206-91, college: Nevada) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Worth to mention West played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. American forward Shane Henry (203, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Epic Sports Consulting LLC) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Jeffery Stubbs (189-91, college: Jackson St.) added 20 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Caballeros de Culiacan lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 15 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys' next round opponent will be Mantarrayas (#4) in La Paz. Caballeros de Culiacan will play at home against Venados and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
