We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when eighth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (13-14) beat 7th ranked Venados (13-17) in Mazatlan 107-101. The best player for the winners was American guard Jeff Early (190-88, college: SIU) who scored 40 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Anthony Glover-Jr (185-96, college: Indiana, PA) chipped in 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Worth to mention Glover Jr. played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Jamaican-American Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) produced 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Nick Waddell (200-89, college: Grand Valley St.) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Venados players scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Jalisco. Venados lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 17 games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis' next round opponent will be Gigantes (#6) in Guadalajara. Venados will play on the road against Caballeros de Culiacan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
