We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when second ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (11-3) rolled over top-ranked Norwood Flames (11-3) in Marden 112-81 on Saturday. It was a key game for the top position in League. Mount Gambier Pioneers dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Norwood Flames' 52. They outrebounded Norwood Flames 46-32 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mount Gambier Pioneers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-96, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Tom Daly (182-91) contributed with 29 points and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Brandon Brine (198-91, college: Lethbridge) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and American guard James Legan (190-87, college: ECU, agency: Court Side) added 17 points in the effort for Norwood Flames. Five Mount Gambier Pioneers and four Norwood Flames players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mount Gambier Pioneers keep a position of League leader.
