Very important is a road loss of third ranked Mantarrayas (15-15) against fourth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (16-16) on Saturday night. Visiting Mantarrayas were defeated by Tijuana Zonkeys in a tough game in Tijuana 79-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mantarrayas. Tijuana Zonkeys made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Center AJ West (206-91, college: Nevada) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. West is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American center Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and international forward Irwin Avalos (201-91, college: DBU) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Mantarrayas in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Mantarrayas dropped to the fourth position with 15 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against league's second-placed Halcones de Ciudad Obregon on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mantarrayas will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and hope to get back on the winning track.
