Regular Season Round 5: Hamilton HB - Niagara RL 96-107

Very significant was Niagara RL's (#1, 6-1) victory against second-ranked Hamilton HB (4-3) 107-96. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hamilton HB. Niagara RL made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Forward Guillaume Boucard (198, college: Carleton) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side and American guard Ryan Anderson (193, college: Nebraska) accounted for 19 points and 6 rebounds. Anderson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Justin Edwards (190-92, college: Kansas St.) came up with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Ryan Ejim (201-93, college: Carleton) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Hamilton HB in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Niagara RL (6-1) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place. Hamilton HB at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Edmonton S.. Niagara RL will play against Guelph N. (#5) on the road in the next round. Hamilton HB will play again against the league's leader Niagara RL and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
