Very expected game in Loganholme where 11th ranked Ipswich Force (2-6) was defeated by seventh ranked Thunder (5-4) 102-89 on Saturday. Thunder made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Ipswich Force was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Mitch Young (206-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Rayshawn Simmons (192-93, college: Cent Michigan, agency: Two Points) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. Five Thunder players scored in double figures. American forward Kyle Harvey (196-91, college: Williams Baptist) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and Papua New Guinea swingman Matiineng-Iakah Leahy (195-97) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Thunder moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Ipswich Force dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Thunder will face Toowoomba Mountaineers (#15) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ipswich Force will play against South West Metro Pirates in Runcorn and hope to win that game.
