There was no surprise in Mount Waverley where 17th ranked Ringwood Hawks (4-9) were crushed by tenth ranked Waverley Falcons (7-5) 97-78 on Sunday. Waverley Falcons outrebounded Ringwood Hawks 55-40 including a 44-33 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Deondre McWhorter (203-93, college: Georgetown, KY) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Dylan Travis (190-93, college: Florida Southern) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Waverley Falcons players scored in double figures. Guard Matthew Snowball produced 21 points and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American guard Joey Miller (190-92, college: DBU) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Waverley Falcons moved-up to seventh place in League. Loser Ringwood Hawks keep the seventeenth position with nine games lost. Waverley Falcons will face league's second-placed Spectres in East Burwood in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ringwood Hawks will play at home against BA CoE (#10) and hope to win that game.
