Regular Season Round 17: Henan - Hebei X. 139-117

The game between fourth ranked Henan (11-6) and 12th ranked Hebei X. (3-14) in Henan ended with biggest points difference. Henan outscored guests from Hebei 139-117. It looked good early as Hebei X. took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Henan had a 45-27 second period charge getting the lead and Hebei X. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 117-139. Henan dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Hebei X.'s 48. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Hebei X.'s players. The best player for the winners was American Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who had a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 assists and 4 steals. Five Henan players scored in double figures. American Brandon Robinson (198-89, college: Clayton St.) produced a double-double by scoring 70 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Mengchao Dong (202-94) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Henan went down to fifth position due to points difference. Hebei X. lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Henan's next round opponent will be higher ranked Hunan (#4) in Changsha and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hebei X. will play at home against Hefei (#8) and hope to win that game.
