Regular Season Round 18: Eltham W. - Bendigo B. 88-92

Very predictable result when tenth ranked Bendigo Braves (8-8) defeated on the road 15th ranked Eltham Wildcats (6-10) 92-88 on Saturday. Bendigo Braves made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Daniel Hansen (192-92) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists during the contest. Bendigo Braves' coach Don Hogan used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was point guard Adam Doyle (176-91) with 22 points and 7 assists and the former international forward Geremy McKay (201-96, college: Vanguard) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Bendigo Braves and five Eltham Wildcats players scored in double figures. Bendigo Braves moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Eltham Wildcats dropped to the sixteenth position with ten games lost. Bendigo Braves will face Diamond Valley Eagles (#13) in Greensborough in the next round. Eltham Wildcats will play on the road against Bandits in Albury and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
