There was an upset in Werribee where higher ranked Cavaliers (12-6) were defeated by seventh ranked Devils (6-13) 114-97 on Sunday. Devils made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Cavaliers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American David Shepard (201-94, college: Lindenwood-Bellev.) had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Konor Kulas (201-94, college: S.Dakota Mines) chipped in 47 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds during the contest. Shepard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. The best for the losing side was naturalized British forward Matthew Donlan (201, college: Youngstown St.) with 32 points and Brandon Polk scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Cavaliers players scored in double figures. Devils maintains seventh position in League with 6-13 record. Loser Cavaliers dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. Devils will face higher ranked Gulls (#6) in Melbourne in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cavaliers will play at home against Magic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
