Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Phoenix and 10th ranked Brisbane Spartans had identical 4-7 record. But Brisbane Spartans were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Cotton Tree 107-101 on Saturday night. Phoenix outrebounded Brisbane Spartans 43-31 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Brisbane Spartans' players. American forward Eric McAlister (204-90, college: Stony Brook) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard John Fitzgerald (193-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Chris Whitehead (175-92, college: Bellarmine) produced 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Scott Kenny (198-89, college: MSU Moorhead) added 23 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Phoenix (5-7) moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Brisbane Spartans keep the tenth position with eight games lost. Phoenix will face league's second-placed Townsville Heat in Hermit Park in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brisbane Spartans will play on the road against Seahawks (#13) in Runaway Bay and hope to win that game.
