Very predictable result when fourth ranked Hawks (17-7) rolled over 10th ranked Redbacks (9-15) in Floreat 103-82 on Friday. Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard Mitchell Clarke (185-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) contributed with 19 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Guard Marshall Nelson (188-94, college: Wayland Baptist) replied with 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) added 21 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Redbacks. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks maintains fourth position in League with 17-7 record. Loser Redbacks keep the tenth place with 15 games lost. Hawks will face league's second-placed Lightning in North Lake in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Redbacks will play at home against Magic (#13) and hope to win that game.
