There was no surprise when 13th ranked Magic (5-18) was edged by eighth ranked Tigers (12-12) in Mandurah 107-105 on Friday. Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Magic's 44 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. American forward Maurice Barrow (196-92, college: Fairfield) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Guard Jackson Hussey (190-92, college: Pikeville) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Marvin Smith (201-93, college: USC Upstate) replied with 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import guard Shaun Stewart (183-94, college: Limestone, agency: Players Group) added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Magic. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tigers maintains eighth position in League with 12-12 record. Loser Magic keeps the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. Tigers will face Slammers (#14) in Bunbury in the next round where they are favorite. Magic will play on the road against Redbacks in Northbridge and hope to win that game.
