Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Bendigo Braves (10-9) edged 14th ranked Knox Raiders (7-12) in Wantirna South 80-78 on Saturday. American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized South Sudanese swingman Mathiang Muo (196-87, college: Charleston So.) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Damon Heuir (189-91, college: S.Utah) replied with 21 points and New Zealand center James Hunter (208-91, college: S.Dakota) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Knox Raiders. Four Knox Raiders players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bendigo Braves maintains ninth position in League with 10-9 record. Loser Knox Raiders keep the fourteenth place with 12 games lost. Bendigo Braves will face higher ranked Geelong Supercats (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Knox Raiders will play against Bandits (#11) in Albury and hope to win that game.
