A very close game took place in Floreat between Lightning and Hawks. Second ranked Lightning (20-5) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Hawks (17-8). Lightning managed to escape with a 1-point win 96-95 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was center Jarrad Prue (198-82) who scored 8 points and 27 rebounds. Guard Rowan Mackenzie (188-99) chipped in 24 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international swingman Clint Steindl (200-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hawks' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lightning keeps a position of League leader. Loser Hawks dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. Lightning will meet at home Buccaneers (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hawks will play against Tigers in Willetton and hope to secure a win.
