Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Cairns Marlins (12-5) beat at home 7th ranked Thunder (8-8) 104-88 on Saturday. Cairns Marlins forced 19 Thunder turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American center Tommy Hamilton-IV (210-94, college: Texas Tech) stepped up and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international power forward Alexander Loughton (206-83, college: ODU) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. Cairns Marlins' coach Jamie O'Loughlin used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
