Regular Season Round 5: ADRM - Uniao Corinthians 54-84

Uniao Corinthians can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Maringa, where they outplayed Country (0-4) 84-54 on Sunday. Uniao Corinthians forced 22 Country turnovers and outrebounded them 52-24 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Uniao Corinthians looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Country's players. The best player for the winners was Joao Ramos (198-99) who scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Naturalized Argentinian point guard Francisco Arozena (178-0) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Swingman Thales Campos (190-99) produced 15 points and power forward Jeferson Arguello (198-0) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Uniao Corinthians (1-3) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Praia and Cearense. It was Country's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Minas. Uniao Corinthians will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Country will play on the road against Sao Jose (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
