Regular Season Round 3: Jinotega - Jass 107-82

An exciting game was played in Jinotega. Jinotega faced Jass. Host Jinotega (3-1) smashed guests from Managua (1-2) 107-82. Jinotega dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Jass' 46. Jinotega forced 21 Jass turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for Puerto Rican guard Evander Ortiz (178-97, college: PR-Bayamon) who led his team to a victory with 41 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Owens Kelly contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Four Jinotega players scored in double figures. South African forward Pieter Prinsloo (208-92, college: Marist, agency: Promo Sport ID) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Jose Ortiz added 24 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) in the effort for Jass. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jinotega will play against Costa Caribe (#6) in Managua in the next round. Jass will play on the road against Indigenas in Matagalpa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
