Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paulo: Pinheiros (#4) and Sao Paulo FC (#7). Sao Paulo FC was defeated at home 68-73 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Betinho Nardi-Duarte (195-88) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) who added 8 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side the former international point guard Georginho de-Paula (195-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and international forward Renan Lenz (206-90, college: Utah) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Pinheiros have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Sao Paulo FC at the other side dropped to the eighth place with two games lost. They share the position with Bauru. Pinheiros will play against America (#10) in Rio Preto in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sao Paulo FC will play at home against America and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
