Regular Season Round 4: Rubon - RCOP Tsmoki 131-80

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Rubon as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Rubon smashed 5th ranked RCOP Tsmoki in Vitebsk 131-80. The game was mostly controlled by Rubon. RCOP Tsmoki managed to win second period 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rubon well out of reach of RCOP Tsmoki shooting 72.3 percent from the field and had 35 for 50 from the free-throw line, while RCOP Tsmoki only scored ten points from the stripe. Rubon forced 36 RCOP Tsmoki turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists comparing to just 22 passes made by RCOP Tsmoki's players. 31 personal fouls committed by RCOP Tsmoki helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international forward Victor Ovsepyan (200-91) fired 19 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. The former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 assists. Five Rubon players scored in double figures. Forward Timofey Karpuk (185-2) produced 26 points and 5 assists and Vladislav Vinnikov added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rubon have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. RCOP Tsmoki at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with Tsmoki II. RCOP Tsmoki will play next round against strong Impuls BGUIR Minsk trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk - Impuls BGUIR Minsk. Rubon will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Prinemanye in Grodno.
