Regular Season Round 3: Cartagena - Calpe 69-74

Not a big story in a game when Cartagena (0-2) lost at home to Calpe (2-0) 74-69 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Cartagena won second period 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Calpe shot 64.7 percent from the field and made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Strangely Cartagena outrebounded Calpe 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Calpe especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. It was a good game for guard Joaquin Crespo (189-0) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Fabio Astilleros (195-94) contributed with 10 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Calpe players scored in double figures. Lithuanian point guard Zilvinas Kuklierius (180-85) answered with 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard David Alvarez (184-94) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Cartagena. Calpe will face L'Alfas (#8) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cartagena will play on the road against Gandia and hopes to get finally their first victory.
