Very expected game when Vicenza (1-2) was defeated at home by Ponzano (1-2) 78-72. Ponzano players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Forward Giulia Brotto (182-91) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Benedetta Bagnara (178-87, agency: LBM Management) supported her with 15 points. Ponzano's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 14 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists by Beatrice Olajide did not help to save the game for Vicenza. Center Laura Meroni (177-93) added 23 points for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ponzano's next round opponent will be Scrivia at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Vicenza will play against Alpo VF (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
