There was a surprise result in Lugo where Maquinaria Ensino (1-2) defeated Zamarat (1-2) 59-46 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was power forward Laura Aliaga (182-94) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian point guard Aleksandra Stanacev (167-94) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Brittany McPhee (183-96, college: Stanford) who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian center Quinn Urbaniak-Dornstauder (193-95, college: ASU) added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Maquinaria Ensino will meet Argon Uni Girona (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zamarat will play against Araski (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
