Regular Season Round 2: Haukar - Keflavik 54-65

Very important is a home loss of Haukar (1-1) against Keflavik (1-1) on Wednesday night. Host Haukar was defeated by Keflavik in Hafnarfjordur 65-54. The game was mostly controlled by Keflavik. Haukar was better in third quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keflavik forced 24 Haukar turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (180-95, college: Oklahoma City) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard Thoranna Hodge-Carr (166-99) contributed with 7 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Lovisa Henningsdottir (184-95) replied with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks and international point guard Thora Jonsdottir (171-97) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Haukar. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Keflavik will play against Breidablik (#7) in Kopavogur in the next round. Haukar will play on the road against Grindavik (#8) to get more than just one victory in their record.
