Regular Season Round 14: Sol de America - Olimpia 85-90

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Olimpia (#1) and Sol de America (#4). Sol de America was defeated at home 85-90 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Olimpia players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American power forward Roquez Johnson (201-92, college: Mississippi St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. The other American import forward Brandon Bowman (205-84, college: Georgetown, agency: David Lee Services) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The former international power forward Jose Fabio (200-77) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and Cameroonian center Gaston Essengue (203-83, college: UNLV) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Sol de America. Four Sol de America players scored in double figures. Olimpia have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-3 record. Sol de America lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Olimpia's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Libertad.
