Regular Season Round 14: Libertad - San Jose 70-92

The biggest surprise of round 14 was guest San Jose's (#2) easy road victory over Libertad (#3) 92-70 on Thursday evening. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Libertad's 30. 27 personal fouls committed by Libertad helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Panamanian center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international Bruno Zanotti (198-82, college: Merrimack) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Four San Jose players scored in double figures. International forward Gabriel Peralta (201-95) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and forward Jorge Martinez (-98) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Libertad's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. San Jose maintains second position with 10-5 record having just two points less than leader Olimpia. Libertad at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. San Jose's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Sol de America.
