Regular Season Round 7: Gniezno - SMS PZKosz 85-69

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Gniezno (4-1) defeated at home 8th ranked SMS PZKosz (1-4) 85-69 on Saturday. Gniezno dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to SMS PZKosz's 40. Gniezno forced 23 SMS PZKosz turnovers and had a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for forward Dariusz Dobrzycki (193-84) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Dariusz Wietrzynski (194-99) helped adding 9 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side Adrian Sobkowiak (188-1) responded with 10 points and 7 assists and forward Filip Kaluza (197-1) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SMS PZKosz's coach Mladen Starcevic gave the chance to play for ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gniezno. They moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Miedzychod and Arka II. SMS PZKosz lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. Gniezno will face Biofarm II (#10) in Poznan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SMS PZKosz will play at home against the league's leader Notec Inowr. and hope to win that game.
